The brewery began when we had the chance to acquire the equipment from the now-closed Hwgga Brew in Llandrindod Wells — too good an opportunity to miss — and bring it back to Bristol, where Winford Brewing Company was born.
Winford Brewing Company uses traditional brewing methods, producing around 500 litres of beer every month.
We craft beers using the finest ingredients, including classic UK malts such as Maris Otter and Golden Promise, producing traditional British styles alongside modern hop-forward beers, with every batch small and carefully managed for consistency and quality.
We use modern UK hops like Jester and Olicana in our flagship golden ale Winford Gap, and carefully selected hops from further afield, including Mosaic from the USA, which features solely in our blonde ale Narrow Lanes.
All of our beers are packaged on site and available generally in bottle, can, cask and keg.

Hi, I’m James — the head brewer (well… the only brewer!) behind Winford Brewing Company. I’ve been involved with making beer for around 16 years — starting in the kitchen, then moving to the dusty corner of a garage, before eventually taking over the whole garage… and now brewing properly in a brewery.
When the opportunity came up to acquire the equipment from the now-closed Hwgga Brew in Llandrindod Wells, it was too good to miss. With an almost overflowing Luton van and a jam-packed Transit van, we brought the brewery back to Bristol — and Winford Brewing Company was born. (Who even wants a treadmill anyway?)
I’ve never really been one to share much of what I make, but now feels like the right time to change that — and to share it with as many of you as possible.
